Media
Purpose
Media is the home for media asset management when Media Manager is active.
Current Media Manager workflow
Media Manager now provides the governed media library for uploaded assets, media records, folders, thumbnails, picker payloads, and media settings.
The main Library view works like a compact file explorer:
- folders appear as a nested tree on the left
- selecting a folder shows that folder's media records on the right
- media can be viewed as List, Details, or Thumbnails
- the toolbar includes media actions, display mode, sort/state, per-page, search, folder management, upload, and settings
- sort/state choices include Date up/down, Name A-Z/Z-A, Type A-Z, Size up/down, Published, and Archived
- uploads record the uploader user UUID, and Details view displays Uploaded By as the user's display name or username
- the gear opens Media Manager settings
Common media jobs
- Upload a media asset.
- Select a folder and review the media inside it.
- Switch between List, Details, and Thumbnails views.
- Search or sort the selected folder's media records.
- Filter to Published or Archived records from the combined sort/state control.
- Select one or more media records and use Edit, Archive/Activate, or Delete.
- Use the picker where another addon or editor needs a media selection payload.
Bulk action rule
Archive/Activate follows the first selected media record.
If the first selected record is active, the button offers Archive. If the first selected record is archived, the button offers Activate.
Ownership rule
Media Manager owns uploads, storage paths, MIME metadata, thumbnail metadata, media state, folder organization, and picker payloads.
Other managers may reference media, but they should not become Media Manager.
Good habit
Use clear names. Future-you should not have to open six files named `final-final-real-one.png` to find the right image.
